It's Hard to Imagine
It’s really hard to imagine that a different reality other than the one your eyes tell you is there exists.
It’s really hard to imagine that a life without pain exists.
But it’s also important to accept that there is so much suffering in this world. There’s so much pain that it’s pretty easy to understand it when a person doesn’t want to live anymore.
Even many religions, depending on how you look at it, focus on death versus life, the crucifixion versus the resurrection, etc. Jodi Arias, who was convicted of murdering her boyfriend in 2013 stated, “I believe death is the ultimate freedom and I'd rather have my freedom as soon as I can get it."
So, many people see death as the ultimate release from all of the hardship there is to encounter as a human being. It’s really hard to imagine that destiny is the all-pervading measure of all things…that everything is at its appointed place and time. If your life is governed by fate, then that fate is a necessity. And that’s really hard for the ego to accept. In fact, it won’t accept it. The ego wants what it wants when it wants it. I don’t think that most people get to live out their fate because they’re really trying to be someone else and don’t even know about the other. So, that one’s a really hard one, too. In fact, most people think of fate as something negative! Well, that’s your fate, they say.
If consciousness is something outside of you, if consciousness can only change as a result of evolution, then you’re in trouble. It’s really hard to even begin to understand, much less accept, that you are the very thing you have been looking for all of your life. But you spend little if any time pursuing that. And that’s OK.
It’s like being upset about something you thought you lost, something that was blue. And hours later, you find it and it was sitting right there on the kitchen counter but you couldn’t see because it was red. You weren’t looking for something red. You were looking for something blue and that’s why you couldn’t find it, much less see it. Consciousness is like that. You’re looking in the wrong places and the whole time, it’s right there! But it’s OK.
What you seek is not out there. It’s in here, in you.
Another wonderful quote from Aurobindo’s Savitri. (Now, remember Savitri is the female in this epic poem of the transformation of humankind.)
‘In Matter's body find thy heaven-born soul.
Then Savitri surged out of her body's wall
And stood a little span outside herself
And looked into her subtle being's depths
And in its heart as in a lotus-bud
Divined her secret and mysterious soul.
At the dim portal of the inner life
That bars out from our depths the body's mind
And all that lives but by the body's breath,
She knocked and pressed against the ebony gate.
The living portal groaned with sullen hinge:
Heavily reluctant it complained inert
Against the tyranny of the spirit's touch.
A formidable voice cried from within:
“Back, creature of earth, lest tortured and torn thou die.”
A dreadful murmur rose like a dim sea;
The Serpent of the threshold hissing rose,
A fatal guardian hood with monstrous coils,
The hounds of darkness growled with jaws agape,
And trolls and gnomes and goblins scowled and stared
And wild beast roarings thrilled the blood with fear
And menace muttered in a dangerous tongue.
Unshaken her will pressed on the rigid bars:
The gate swung wide with a protesting jar,
The opponent Powers withdrew their dreadful guard;
Her being entered into the inner worlds.’
What you seek is not out there. It’s in here, in you.
It’s really hard to imagine that this could be true, that all of this is inside of you. It’s really hard to imagine that you can separate or certainly dissociate your “I” from the sensory world of people, events, objects, emotions, thoughts, that who you really reside outside of your mind, outside a subject-object relationship, that says I am the way I am because…is not true but you don’t know that, and it’s really hard to imagine otherwise.
But if consciousness is not real and does not offer mankind an alternative to the insanity that permeates this world, then stop reading this and go live in a bunker. If consciousness is not real, there would be no way out of this mess.
But it’s hard to imagine that it’s the year 2020 in the middle of the pandemic and we don’t know anything about consciousness. You know this hurts and you want out of this but you don’t know what to do about it.
So, you’ve got to figure out to simplify our understanding of the very forces that are running the world and the best way to do that is for you to focus on you. If you think that’s selfish, that’s just another lie you practice that you were taught to believe.
Only until you give to yourself, love yourself, honor yourself, forgive yourself, can you ever give that to another person.
So, focus on you. And what we want to do is create bridges from the lower self to the higher self, from the ego to the soul, from the horizontal to the vertical. We’ll call it consciousness for dummies.
Let's start with a rationale for considering a different way of looking at things. I spoke about this excellent rationale in an earlier podcast. But like all trades and professions and sports and skills, it’s important to review the basics in order to master the object of your intention. A really good rationale is what is known as Godel's Theorem.
A mathematical theory with significant evolutionary applications was authored by an Austrian logician named Kurt Godel in 1931. He made a brilliant discovery involving the translation of an ancient paradox in philosophy into mathematical terms. It had to do with a conflict between the finite and the infinite and the use of mathematical reasoning to explore mathematical reasoning itself. It stated that any mathematical system beyond a certain degree of complexity contains statements that can neither be proven true nor false.
Godel asserted that when these limits of complexity were reached, that one must, through the use of insight, go beyond the limitations of that closed axiomatic system and intuit a system of higher complexity or "Meta-system" which contains the solutions and proofs of the lower ones. The implications of "Godel's Theorum" go far beyond the world of mathematics. What we're saying is that the "vertical" is that different meta-system.
When he asserted that "mathematical proofs are demonstrations within fixed systems of propositions" he also implied that insoluble problems which occur at one level, as a result of the fixed system of propositions at that level, can be easily solved by moving to a new more comprehensive system in which the fixed propositions are more inclusive. When his theory of metasystems is applied to the study of quantum physics, it describes exactly the process by which the Nobel laureate, Ilya Prigogine discovered, that there are systems within systems of graduated complexity and harmony.
The higher or meta-systems are characterized by different laws and principles which contain the solution to problems existing at the lower levels. Once again, what we're saying is that the "vertical (consciousness) is that higher-system that contains the solutions. The human mind represents the lower system that is incapable of solving the problems it creates.
Ilya Prigogine described the movement into higher systems of harmony as being produced by the release of energy that follows the collapse of the lower ones. It is an inexorable evolutionary principle that may be observed in the periodic destruction of many political, economic, and religious institutions prior to periods of great reformation. What Godel's Theorum represents in the language of science and mathematics may also be understood as a basic pattern in the development of civilization and culture.
This rationale should be applied to the pandemic. In order to solve your problems that your lower Self created, you’ll have to figure out how to access your higher self, that part of you that already has the answers to those problems.
But instead, we repeat the same old patterns to try and solve the same old problems not knowing that the same old patterns created the same old problems. The brain is the organ that responds to all of the sensory data you encounter...which is massive. The stored up experiences and reactions (mental, physical, and emotional) to all of that sensory data become your mind. BUT, you are not your mind any more than you are your brain, and yet without them, the "becoming" process could not exist. Get it?
So, let’s see what we can do and how you can apply just a couple of ideas today in your life and work.
Consciousness lies outside of the brain and can use the brain but the brain cannot create consciousness.
The object, then, is for the individual to learn to subordinate his mind (the brain is not the same thing, but we'll straighten that out later) to that greater consciousness and to have the courage to live from that understanding. Without consciousness, the world you see today is what you get. Chaos, misery, confusion, meaninglessness, etc. If you want more misery, then don’t read anything else and go back to watching Tiger King.
The closer you move to your center, the more your life is stabilized, governed, disciplined, and the greater your harmony, your health, your inner peace, and your capacity to love.
All individuals like to believe, particularly those with resources (perceived strength and power), that they are in control of their own destinies. But in fact, that is not true... free will is an illusion. Yet, you must be aligned and pursue your own, perceived goals until the time comes that you "wake up" and realize something else is going on. But if you will consider this, you can begin, even a little bit at a time, to let go, knowing that everything is perfect just the way it is and that if you’re hurting, if you’re suffering, then stop doing what you’ve been doing that creates the suffering and let go, knowing that everything, including the pandemic, is in good hands. Lower blood pressure, a decrease of hypertension, stress, worry, anxiety, deeper breaths, better sleep because you’re learning to let go. And this will take courage and discipline and practice.
The closer you move to your center, the more your life is stabilized, governed, disciplined, and the greater your harmony, your health, your inner peace, and your capacity to love. In fact, the more you understand the more you will realize your whole life has been a deliberate but unseen weaving of forces and dynamics that became this thing called your life…nothing missing, nothing random, no mistakes. And while it’s impossible no matter how developed you are to be able to totally understand the perfection of such a thing, you are able to “see” it with your soul and then have the courage to live from that “seeing.”
So, let go.
Everything is perfect. So, relax.
That’s what your soul yearns for…
truth.
There is one consciousness that is the source of the multiplicity, that’s in charge of the multiplicity. There's you...but then there are 7.5 billion other people, none of whom believe the same thing, most believing that their life is "hit-or-miss," chance, luck, etc. Yet, contained in each element of the multiplicity (7.5 billion) lies the essence of the one consciousness. The one consciousness represents unity. The multiplicity represents duality.
The purpose of the singular consciousness as represented by the multiplicity is to experience itself in physical form, i.e. the path of the metaphysical to the physical. Physicists abide by the laws of science...consciousness does not. If it cannot be measured, then it hardly exists to the physicist. Consciousness is not subject to the laws of the speed of light or any other parameter of science. It’s not too difficult to discover God or Truth-Consciousness out there, you see so many beautiful, wondrous happenings. Show me someone who has discovered that in themselves? That’s a different story.
Now, in the process of the invisible becoming visible, that means in the process of you taking birth, metaphysical to physical, the nature of, the objective of, the destiny of, the fate of, the individual has already been established in the "seed" if you will.
That is to say, your birth is not defined by a tabula rasa experience but has already been established. In essence, the curriculum is set and you can't do anything about it. But it is a curriculum that exceeds anything the human being is capable of doing on their own.
Step 1: The metaphysical becomes physical.
Step 2: The physical now must ascend back into the metaphysical to learn of its true nature.
Step 3: Following the ascent, it is the return to the physical (the horizontal) to transform it, to create a new reality. Your everyday life now becomes "heaven."
But in that unfolding, between birth and death, there is the "becoming" process. The majority of people think it is a linear process, birth to death. But that is linear time. Cyclical time goes beyond linear time and is represented in your life by repeating cycles and phases. Now, it's birth to death, death to birth, birth to death, death to birth, and on and on forever. Then, there's the simultaneous time! Everything that is going to happen has already happened and is all happening at the same time. This implies that the destiny of mankind has not just been established but that it has already happened! There is no beginning and no end. Now, there is no death.
Only existence is aware of itself in physical form...which was the objective in the first place! It just took a billion years! There's no such thing as random. Random is the word you use when you don’t understand why something took place. You believe if you don't understand why something took place, then there was no reason behind it in the first place and was, logically, an accident
As you move through lifetime after lifetime, the gap between the unconsciousness and the consciousness lessens, resulting one day in one lifetime to an awakening to the consciousness which is the source of your being. Now, the old you, the separated, divided, individualized, personality-ridden human being unites with its source and your personality and mind begin to be subordinated to this greater consciousness. What is the result?
Heaven on earth. Not the religious heaven that many people have been taught. But the heaven of abundance, freedom, joy, and knowledge in the physical body. Unthreatenable, unalarmed, unappalled, it watches the entire unfolding with amusement, knowing that each one is safe, each one is a microcosmos of the macro cosmos... pretending that they don't know that. Each day, each moment is precious.
So, once again, relax, do the best you can to release all judgment of others…don’t worry about the national or global scene, just start with yourself. Give up the judgment of yourself and then give up the judgment of all others. This doesn’t release you from responsibility. Be in alignment. Do the right thing but without stress, without condemnation, without rage.
Each day, each moment is precious.
Unify, unify, unify.
Create a unified vision and perception of the world and everything in it…but include yourself. But keep it real. If there’s someone who’s hurt you, that’s OK. Unify…include the hurts and wounds as part of the unfolding. I didn’t say you should have dinner with those who have hurt you but let go of the attachment to the hurt. If you forget, go back to #1. Everything that has happened in your life is perfect for your unique process of becoming.
Don’t be naïve. Remember evil is part of the process. It is allowed or it wouldn’t be taking place but it cannot be accepted. Work to end evil but through peace, through your understanding that everything is good or working for the good.
Unify.
So, if I summarize these couple of points…
Everything is perfect and under control. Everything is being directed.
Relax and move to your center.
There is one consciousness.
Relax, let go, be in alignment with your purpose, and from your center “see” a unified world whose destiny is not in question but is “becoming.”
Your thinking and reflective mind must be helped to understand that there is an alternative to suffering and to the destructive reality of the lower mind. It becomes vital for you to form a greater understanding of the truth that is who you are and what you are doing here. If this truth is real and can form the basis of a new reality, a new “seeing” in your life, then you must continue to learn about those principles and its relationship not only to you and the other billions but to the universe itself. For it is your existence that precedes your experience.
The mysteries outweigh that which is known but it doesn't make the unknown unknowable. We want to help you create bridges from the physical to the metaphysical, from the horizontal to the vertical. Without this knowledge, there's not a single individual that stands a chance.
The curriculum is set and its destiny has already been achieved and you are part of this beautiful story.
