Involved or Evolved
One of the common characteristics of your life that you may share with most others is the busyness of your life.
Perpetual motion from morning to night and probably like most people, wondering what all of the commotion is all about.
You may be experiencing your life just like that: a lot of motion that is mostly commotion, a lot of action that is mostly agitation. But no matter where you go, life is everywhere, the unfolding of life is everywhere and each of your moment is a magical tapestry being woven in the playground of planet earth, most of the time without you even being aware of the sacredness of each of those to what appears to be mundane moments.
There is, at each moment, a will that is being exerted upon your world and environment to bring about a greater life, an even more fulfilling life, seeking greater understanding of life. Your soul and your mind are functioning as two separate beings, one enjoying the ride, the other being ridden over as it moves unconsciously through life on a daily trying to make sense out of everything.
You are able to discern death all around you in many different forms and patterns but although the mind doesn’t know it, death is just a process of life, a breaking up of those patterns and forms. And if you could step back about 20 feet and watch yourself in a 48 hour continuum, watching the perceptions you produce, the emotions you experience, expressed and repressed, and the actions you take, the actions to which you are addicted, the actions that bring you pleasure and the actions that are largely related to your need to survive. If you could step back and watch this, you would see that you are involved but not evolved.
Your mind may be the most effective tool you think you have in asserting your will in the world, but consciousness, of which you don’t have a lot of experience, is your true power.
Consciousness is the great mitigator. Omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, consciousness is all-pervading, the source of all secret and visible life forms. Life is an imperishable constant in an ever-changing landscape. It’s hard to imagine that this statement would be true about the person that you dislike so much but it’s true. If it’s true about God, it’s true about the universe. If it’s true about the universe, it’s true about you. If it’s true about you, it’s true about them. Oh no, you realize, they is me and I is them! Well, at least, that’s what is supposed to happen, that is gaining a unified perception of all things and all people and eliminating the perception of duality, to find meaning and peace.
You are endlessly seeking out there in the world the answers that can only be found inside of yourself, misreading the road signs but not giving up, trying to the best of your ability, however weak that may be, to take the next step. And again, you may be involved or evolved. You may be unconsciously battling your way forward or you may be consciously gliding your way through the ups and downs of life.
And while mind may be your most effective tool for living an extraordinary life, you are constantly seeking to extricate your mind from the lower forces of life and the turmoil and stress of daily living. It is time for you to come to understand a great deal more about the concealed forces that lie inside of you. The energy of your life is constantly exerting itself on the world and simultaneously receiving the blows and shocks of life.
It is only when you come to understand the purpose of those blows and shocks that you become conscious not only of the purpose of your existence but of the force within you, and that you can perceive, proceed and perform in the appropriate manner. Now, this may be accomplished by being involved but the outcomes may be more suitable to your liking if you were evolved. And while you may feel the separation that your mind has created as an individual, while you may be experiencing your existence as an entanglement of uncontrollable forces and dynamics, the gradual awakening to your true Self is really the only thing going on. It really is.
Everything around you, good and bad, up and down, is serving as the backdrop for this divine unfolding. So as this unfolding occurs, you can’t really know what’s going until you begin the process of becoming conscious of the force that not only lies inside of you but which is acting upon the world itself. Millions of souls in a singular, unified reality pretending not to know what they’re doing here. And each individual is trying to figure out how to escape the blows and shocks of life, and in the process, you imprison yourself in your mind. And again, you may be involved or you may be evolved.
All of your personal actions, most of which are impulsive, while they may be necessary to survive, will only become precise when you begin to seek out the knowledge that will progressively cause to be revealed to you the true understanding of who you are and what you’re doing here. You become more and more aware that there is something else, something inside of you that has the ability to master your life and the forces and dynamics that are acting upon it. In the beginning, it is as though you are helpless, thrown into circumstances that are beyond your control, obeying the laws of suffering and pain. But as time passes, you realize there is something else growing inside of you and that whatever it is, there is a freedom that even momentarily shows itself, that makes you want more of it. This is the awakening to your true Self, and the will and force that lies within it.
For the play of the individual in the world is the play of the divine in the world and it is this same individuation and separation that creates the barriers and limitations. As the process unfolds, the individual is subjected to three forces of life that provide the stage upon which the play is acted: creation, preservation and dissolution. The creative force is met with having desires that cannot be fulfilled, having dreams that cannot be realized and watching the dissolution of all forms around it as a reminder that death may be around the next corner. The hunter hunting is himself hunted.
Now, I’m not trying to sound en-darkening but I’m not going to be naïve either.
The energy of your body is constantly seeking to renew and rejuvenate itself while simultaneously using up the energy to endure and survive the demands of daily living. When that give and take gets out of whack, you get sick and in worst situations, you experience disease and the dissolution part of the creative process. And this struggle, just the struggle itself, without understanding of the specifics or why it is happening, just the struggle itself takes its toll and creates a prison in which the mind lives.
When progress is made, you often experience a corresponding response in the environment that resists the progress and here we go again. It’s a lot like mountain climbing…the closer you get to the top, the harder it can be. It’s a two step forward, one-step back process and it takes its toll in a world of mutual devouring. And you live out of the experiences you have and continue to accumulate, operating out of what you refer to as your past and you see your past as the Truth of who you are and the truth of what you’re doing here and what life is about.
But the experiences also reveal the joy and the fulfillment and the power and knowledge that make up life. Each experience stands the chance of helping you refine And again, you may be involved or evolved.
But somewhere inside of you, you know that this process of life is meant to be mastered, that it can be mastered, and that you are not meant to live a life of oblivion and hardship and pain. You know that change is absolutely necessary and is a pivotal ingredient upon which your life depends.
Leaving the old you behind to birth a new you.
There is a part of you that knows that the process can be mastered, in spite of the fact that you know that the blows and fate of life are impossible. Understood properly, you understand then that death, the letting go of the old you, is a process of life and not the end of life. It is a necessity of life to seek new forms and new experiences and that the death of the old you is then justified in that process.
But I want to ask you a question.
When the mastery has been achieved, when the joy has been touched and inhaled, why would you want to be anywhere else? Why would you not want to remain your Self and experience physically the non-physical bliss forever? Mine and Terry’s relationship is like that. We frequently talk about the next lifetime and picking up where we leave off in this one.
I don’t want to be with someone else. I want to be with her and live no matter what happens. And would it be possible to extricate myself from the laws of evolution that demand the seeking out of new forms and new experiences in order to evolve, using death as the bridge between those new forms and instead, choose to be with her. Again and again.
To choose life.
I guess then that that being my choice, I better figure out not to be just involved but evolved. And I think that if I could, the thought and desire for immortality might enter my mind and my mind that will have figured out how to rise above the hardship and darkness to the light that shines not just on me but in me. I would choose an immortal life with her. I can think of no greater heaven on earth.
Therefore, the mechanism by which the perfection is wrought is the waxing and waning, the ups and downs, the duality of life. The shadow and the light are wedded to one another, and when we understand this, we move beyond our sensory experience and engage in that waxing and waning in a much more meaningful manner. You can then consider that the highest aim for which you can aspire is the manifestation of that higher order in your daily life, your behavior, your relationships, your definition of who you consider yourself to be, your work, your parenting, and in your perception of the world. And that is pretty amazing. Easy to do? No. Difficult? Yes.
Difficult because there will be days that wane, followed by days that wax, followed by days that are emotionally debilitating, only to be followed by days that leave you breathless. And in the mix of these days, you may find the splendors of the cosmic process and your path to a larger Self, no longer seeking but having the knowledge to live powerfully in the middle of the going and coming.
you will have to decide to be involved or evolved for your fate rests upon your choice.
