From Metaphysical to Physical and Back

From birth, we begin the movement toward perfection.

Curriculums change. Values change. It is a sign of maturation. Learning is change. Always evolving. But when you refuse to change, it is a dangerous path ahead. Demand to stay the same if you want and you will pay the price.

These events are happening in our world at this very instant and you, me and the world are being asked to change…or else. Why do we insist on learning through pain and destruction?

Consciousness can only be considered if you’re willing to state that eternal Spirit, God, or whatever you call it, is the stuff of which the material is formed…is the stuff. In other words, the physical is made up of the metaphysical…and one of the most important questions is why? What is the purpose of physical birth, of the planet itself?

The reason this question is important is that it should be obvious to you by now that you’re essentially a visitor here. You exist physically because of air, food, water, and shelter. You depend upon it. But it doesn’t depend on you. Simply because you die, the sun will not fade away. But if the sun fades away, you will die pretty quickly. Your existence depends on it but it doesn’t depend on you.

If you’re not willing to consider this, then any link between being human and spirit is lost. If one of them is and one of them isn’t, then one of them is relegated to oblivion. You’re on your own….in the entire universe, you’re left on your own. But simply because you don’t believe it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. It means you don’t believe it exists and you’re entitled to that. It doesn’t really care what you think but you might want to because your fate and destiny depend upon it.

Immense change takes time.

I want to propose something to you. At birth, the mind contains All That Is. The senses are awakened. Waves, stages, JBOPPPs, defense structures, emotional patterns, negative-ground-of-being, The mind becomes the veil between the ordinary and the extraordinary, the veil between the Is and the Is Not, the veil between Truth and Ignorance. Amnesia.

So, what is the Purpose?

The purpose of evolution is not just physical but spiritual. Evolution is a work in progress, but the work is seeking a result. What is the result? The experience of itself in physical form. Its will, its intent is to create heaven on earth, for you to live and experience the endless depths of joy, wisdom, and immortality through becoming conscious and remembering who and what you are.

There is a sign over the doorway into our training room that reads Tat Tvam Asi. The statement is frequently repeated in the sixth chapter of the Chandogya Upanishad (c. 600 BCE) as the teacher Uddalaka Aruni instructs his son in the nature of Braham, the supreme reality. Maybe one in 50 people will even see the sign and even fewer asks what it means.

So, I want to pose this dilemma…what is the relationship between the absolute and the physical? If I say you are divine and you say you’re not, who’s right? My point is, who would you prefer to be right? If you are, you are eternal, unthreatenable, forever, and ever safe. If you’re not, you’re on your own. So, I say, if you’re going to make up some stuff, why don’t you make up some good stuff?

Obviously, you can see that your mind doesn’t care whether you’re happy, or fulfilled, or loved…it just wants to survive…but what is that costing you? The very thing your mind is attempting to be right about is the very thing it is stealing from you. And yet, there are always going to be difficulties, limitations, and failures because these are the tools of the divine to realize itself in physical form.

Using all the mental reductionist powers available to your mind, you will never be able to measure, explain, or describe the experience of love. It is beyond words. But it is not unknowable. Unknown just means that it doesn’t fit into a reductionist thinking pattern of analyzing difference and isn’t subject to the laws of the physical. Unless you do choose to learn, unless you develop in your own way an insatiable thirst for Knowledge, you will be relegated to your own ignorance, living out over and over your illusions and distorted perceptions of realities that don’t even exist.

Let your hungers, your aspirations, be fed not by immediate solutions to your immediate problems of your material existence in the physical world but by the progressive accumulation of wisdom contained in your aspiration to conscious life, and in doing so, you will build a bridge into the world of eternal life that is unthreatenable, the peace that is beyond understanding, the wisdom that transcends time and space and joy that bears the unbearable.

It will then be time to descend back into everyday life and share the gift with the world that you are.

From metaphysical to physical and back, consciousness is the way home.
