The Divine I.O.U.
There's a debt you didn't know you had—and one that's already being repaid.
In this episode, Haydn and Terry explore Sri Aurobindo's radical concept of the "mutual debt" between the individual and the Divine. It is a profound truth: while the Divine doesn’t need you to be the Divine, It has no way of experiencing itself in physical form without you.
The Divine owes you a debt for your willingness to come here—to brave the darkness, the loss, and the struggles of the human experience. In return, we owe a debt for the privilege of this life; the chance to become the truth of who we are, the Divine manifest.
It’s a metaphysical interdependence that gives your suffering meaning, your existence purpose, and your path forward a destination.
Most of us spend our lives running from the unknown, treating the mystery of our existence like a secret we aren't supposed to understand. But what if the unknown was actually knowable? What if choosing not to know is simply choosing to stay imprisoned in a life that never quite fits?
Haydn and Terry unpack the idea that the divine owes you something — for your willingness to take birth, to go through the darkness, to press forward even when life feels overwhelming or just off. And that you, in turn, owe a debt to yourself: the courage to face your challenges, choose a meaningful life, and simply be who you really are.
