Relationships provide the greatest opportunity to create and produce the experience of your highest conceptualization of yourself. However, for many people, the relationship is used as the greatest opportunity to create and produce their highest conceptualization of the other person. All relationships stand the danger of getting stuck in the “horizontal” dynamics of daily life.

This never turns out well. Expectations ruin relationships, plain and simple. One of the many wisdoms related to relationships is understanding that a relationship is not about having the other person fulfill you and complete you but about you sharing your fulfillment and your completion with the other person.

The paradox becomes clear. You don’t need another person to fulfill you. But the paradox is that without the other person, you do not get to experience this powerful truth about yourself!
